The stars are aligned for the Virginia Equine
Extravaganza
With a host of top name horse professionals on hand at
the 4th annual Virginia Equine Extravaganza
this year’s event is pulling out all stops to be the
best yet.
Heading up this all star line-up are Olympian icons
Steffen Peters (dressage) and Phillip Dutton (eventing),
along with all time favorites Charles Wilhelm, Ken
McNabb, Julie Goodnight, Australian dressage judge and
vaulting president Colleen Kelly and more than 20 other
horse pros and entertainers. This line up is sure to
appeal to everyone from the dressage diva to the barrel
racer, the young hunter jumper or the green reiner,
cutter or working cow horse,” said show producer Vicki
O’Hara. "Steffen Peters was such a huge hit in RAleigh
in August that we invited him to join us in Virginia."
The Virginia show follows closely behind the highly
successful first annual North Carolina Equine
Extravaganza in Raleigh. “Understanding that there is
no “average” horse owner is key to the success of the
Equine Extravaganza formula. O’Hara explains “It is
important that we ensure a program which includes
something for everyone and then we strive to exceed even
that seemingly impossible challenge.”
A large draw at the Virginia show is the highly
anticipated “East Coast Trainer Challenge” sponsored by
VAnimalID.info. North Carolina Trainer Challenge (Rockin
J Horse Stalls) winner, Ed Dabney of Monroe, GA will
face off with fellow trainers Kenny Harlow and Bob
Jeffreys. This "low-stress" colt starting competition
gives the audience a chance to see the exceptional
training skills of the participants while taking part in
selecting the winner.
Attendees can also look for the winner of America’s
Horse Idol to be determined Saturday evening. “The
North Carolina Horse Idol winner, an incredibly talented
appaloosa mule named Rocky, whose jaw-dropping leap into
the back of a pick up truck had the crowd stunned and
amazed, takes the competition to new heights”, O’Hara
said.
Between the shopping, the workshops, the roundtable
discussions, the demonstrations, the entertainment, and
the company of thousands of people that share a passion
for horses, the Equine Extravaganza is a no-brainer
destination for anyone that loves horses!
