Virginia
Equine Extravaganza® finds
a home in Virginia horse country.
Horses
are big business in Virginia. From
racing, to boarding, to training, to
recreation, horses are a critical part
of the Virginia economy. And In April
of 2005 the Virginia will welcome
The
2nd annual
Virginia Equine Extravaganza®
, a Virginia based, east
coast equestrian expo of national
proportions.
The
2001 Virginia Equine Survey reveals
staggering figures for the Virginia
horse industry, showing that as of June
2001 there were an estimated 170,000
horses in over 29,000 operations
throughout the state. Of the estimated
170,000 horses in Virginia, over 60,000
(more than1/3 of the total), are
concentrated in 14 counties of Northern
Virginia, where the Equine Event East
will be held. Virginia equine
operations spent a total of nearly $505
million during 2001 caring for horses.
Total expenses per horse averaged $2969
and total expenses per operation
averaged $17,406. The
Virginia
Equine
Extravaganza®
gives
these horse owners and professionals a
