Getting Around the Venue Will be Easier and Faster! The move to the Meadow Event Park proved to be a success for Equine
Extravaganza, though we did experience some growing pains. The new facility
was spectacular: beautiful barns, ample arenas and space, a convenient
location, and a beautiful setting for a horse expo! However, as with
all things, there is always a balance: the Ying and the Yang. In this
case, the Ying and Yang was with the facility layout. The up side:
there was plenty of room. The down side: there was plenty of room.
All of that beautiful, horse-friendly space made it a bit challenging to
get from place to place quickly. We have evaluated
our options as we strive for the best possible layout for attendees in a way
that is compatible with the logistics of the operation.
We are implementing the following changes for 2011:
- We are consolidating most Equine Extravaganza
clinics and demos in one central location on the north side of
the facility (Exhibitor side) as much as possible
- We are adding an additional (huge) tented arena on the
exhibitor side so that most clinics will be on that side of the
facility. We will have two tented arenas, in case of rain!
- Breed and Stallion exhibits will be on in the tent, as
well.
- The Trainer Challenge and barrel
racing and jumping clinics will be held on
the Equine Complex side of the facility due to the space and
footing needs of those clinics. All outdoor clinics will be held
rain or shine.
- We will increase the amount of premium parking
available on the north, exhibitor side of the facility. Since that space is
limited, we recommend that you purchase your premium parking tickets and
passes ahead of time.
- We will be implementing a new ticketing plan this year
to reduce the fees charged by the ticket processing company.
- Shuttles and horse drawn wagons will be
provided to transport people back and forth from one side
of the park to the other.
- There will be activities throughout the weekend on the Equine
Complex side of the facility, including the Virginia Draft Horse
and Mule Association Old Dominion Show on
Saturday and Sunday with special draft and mule demonstrations
throughout the weekend.
To all of you who supported our event in 2010, thank you for your
patience and good nature as you traversed the distance. We promise to
continue to strive for the best possible balance for all!
