Equine Extravaganza 2010 moves to the Meadow Event Park: Save the date!
February, 2010: Virginia’s biggest horse happenin’ is back and bigger and better than ever! Though there are lots of new experiences on the horizon, Equine Extravaganza’s most exciting news is the move to a new location! This year’s Extravaganza will be held October 29-31, 2010 at the Meadow Event Park, Doswell, VA, new home of the State Fair of Virginia. "We are so thrilled to make this much anticipated move to the Meadow Event Park. Though we had five great years at the Richmond Raceway, it will be great to have a true equestrian facility to call home.” said show producer Vicki O'Hara.
And the location isn’t the only thing that’s new. In addition to the regular robust schedule of events and clinics, this year’s Extravaganza will host the 1st Women Only Trainer Challenge, featuring three dynamic and exceptional trainers: Brandi Lyons, Karen School and Caroline Rider. These three women will demonstrate their natural horsemanship skills as they each work with a young unstarted horse over three days to get them ready to accept saddle and rider and complete an obstacle course. The event will be judged by three past Trainer Challenge participants, Kenny Harlow, Scott Purdum and Charles Pellham, each of whom will also showcase the very horses they started in competitions past.
“So often we are asked what happens to the horses from the Trainer Challenge after the competition,” O’Hara said. “People want to know if they retain the training and how that foundation affects their future schooling. We wanted to give our attendees the opportunity to see first hand exactly how that foundation affects future training.”
Canine Extravaganza makes its exciting debut in October, bringing the horse and canine world together under one roof. Dog lovers will find plenty of dog related products, training information, clinics, and demonstrations
With the addition of more live music, camp fire cooking demos and a little heat in the kitchen with a Cowboy Cook-Off, attendees can expect to find something for everyone. “We wanted to make this year’s event even more fun, festive and flavorful,” said O’Hara “and adding a cooking component is a real crowd pleaser!”
Julie Goodnight, Colleen Kelly, Richard Shrake, Randy Abernathy, Steuart Pittman, Brock Griffith, Ed Dabney, and Doug Sloan are among the many clinicians who will make this an action-packed weekend to remember. Additional clinics will include more dressage and jumping, a little Cowboy Dressage, rider bio-mechanics, gaited clinics, Ranch Horse Versatility, Competitive Trail, Cutting, Reining, trick training and so much more.
The Equine Extravaganza is an absolute must attend for the horse owner, horse lover or even the casual horse enthusiast, and now for dog lovers, as well! There is truly something for everyone!
